Estimates for at least the latest five years are subject to revision early in the following calendar year. The unemployment rate varies between states, ranging from 2.30% to 6.10%. In general, the current unemployment rates in the states are lower than they were in 2018, with only a few exceptions. Alaska has the highest unemployment rate of 6.10%.

On the positive side, Colorado and Alabama enjoyed the biggest declines in their state unemployment rates last year. Both dropped 1.1 percentage points – Colorado's from 3.6% to 2.5%, and
